Sleep Disorders
Understanding the condition
A sleep assessment looks at timing, habits, mental health and medical warning signs so the plan fits the likely cause.
The consultation reviews sleep timing, night-time waking, daytime tiredness and daily routines. Snoring, breathing pauses, mood changes, medicines and substance use may indicate a need for additional assessment.
When an assessment may help
Consider an assessment when sleep difficulties persist or affect concentration, work, mood or daytime safety. Mention snoring, breathing pauses and any medicines or alcohol used for sleep.
Difficulty falling asleep or repeated waking
Waking too early or feeling unrefreshed
Irregular sleep timing or day-night reversal
Daytime fatigue, irritability or poor concentration
Reliance on alcohol or unsupervised tablets for sleep
