Bipolar Disorder
Understanding the condition
With consistent care, many people learn to recognise early warning signs, reduce relapses and protect work, relationships and daily routines.
A useful assessment looks beyond the current mood. Dr. Sridhar reviews periods of depression, increased energy, reduced need for sleep and changes in behaviour, including previous treatment response.
When an assessment may help
Arrange assessment for significant changes in mood, energy, sleep or behaviour. Marked agitation, unsafe decisions or inability to care for basic needs may require urgent care.
Periods of unusually elevated or irritable mood
Reduced need for sleep with increased energy
Fast speech, racing thoughts or impulsive decisions
Episodes of depression or marked loss of function
Clear changes noticed by family or colleagues
