OCD
Understanding the condition
Intrusive thoughts do not define a person’s character. Dr. Sridhar assesses whether the pattern is OCD or another condition such as general anxiety, perfectionism or depression.
The consultation explores unwanted thoughts, visible or mental rituals, avoidance and repeated reassurance seeking. You can explain symptoms that feel embarrassing or are difficult for other people to notice.
When an assessment may help
An assessment may help when intrusive thoughts or rituals take up time, cause distress or interfere with daily responsibilities. Having an unwanted thought does not mean that you want to act on it.
Repeated checking, washing, counting or arranging
Disturbing thoughts, images or doubts that feel unwanted
Mental reviewing, reassurance seeking or silent rituals
Avoidance of people, places, objects or responsibilities
Rituals that take time or disrupt family and work
